Essayfi keeps optional analytics off until you choose to allow it. “Reject analytics” leaves the Google Analytics tag unloaded. Your choice can be changed from the footer at any time.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small files saved by a website in your browser. Essayfi also uses local browser storage for some preferences and functions. This policy covers both technologies because both can remember information on your device.
Storage used by Essayfi
- Culture purchase cookie: a random, HTTP-only browser identifier helps protect purchased report access and reconnect a purchase to the browser that made it. It is marked SameSite=Strict and currently expires after up to ten years. It does not contain your transaction ID.
- Chat guest cookie: when you open support chat, Essayfi creates an HTTP-only, first-party guest identifier so your support conversation can be linked to you if you return. It is marked SameSite=Lax and expires after 30 days.
- Analytics choice: local browser storage remembers whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics for 180 days, so the banner does not ask on every page.
- Display preference: local browser storage remembers the light or dark theme you choose.
- Purchased report access: after a verified purchase, a secure download link may be saved in local browser storage so you can redownload the report from the same browser. Clearing this storage can remove that shortcut.
Optional Google Analytics
If you select “Allow analytics,” Essayfi loads Google Analytics measurement ID G-071ESEK33F. Google Analytics may use cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visits and remember measurement information. We use it to understand page views, button use, sample downloads, and Culture report purchase steps. Advertising storage and advertising personalization remain disabled in our Google tag settings.
If you reject analytics, Essayfi does not load the Google tag or send analytics events. PayPal may set its own cookies when you leave Essayfi for checkout; those are controlled by PayPal.
Change or withdraw your choice
Use “Cookie settings” in the site footer to reopen the banner and choose “Allow analytics” or “Reject analytics.” Your choice lasts 180 days, then we ask again. You can also clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Essential purchase and security features may not work as expected if their browser storage is blocked or removed.
